MSC: a Tampa Bay Fixture...

It starts with Camp Director Jim Harte and the wonderful MSC Family of Staff and Campers

"If man does not keep pace with his companions perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer.

Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away."

- Henry David Thoreau

The quote above is perhaps the best way to explain MSC.  MSC hears a different drummer.  The focus is on the individual camper and their happiness within a camp culture of enthusiasm, passion, belief....and FUN!

Overview

Jim Harte's Marauder Soccer Camp is the home for the teaching and coaching philosophy of Coach Jim Harte. Coach Harte started MSC 37 years ago.  Since then he and the MSC staff have spread the word of Individual Player Development in the context of fun and character development.  MSC has set the pace for local soccer camps using creativity, innovation, and a high standard of quality.  Campers are happiest when they are challenged and made to think in a context that is demanding yet safe.  Merit is rewarded and everyone has fun and feels loved while getting better as players.  Mutual respect is always in place: on the training field, in games, and at breaks.  There are no favorites because everyone is the favorite.  Lack of effort and lack of engagement are not part of the MSC program.

Summer 2018 will be our 38th edition.  This summer we will continue to have excellent facilities with the Hayes Family Gym and the Wagner Athletic Complex on the campus of Carrollwood Day School.

Above is our amazing Session 2 staff:  Back Row - Scott Robertson (Celtic FC, Glasgow), Erin Avers (Stetson University), Noah Nixon (Pine Manor College), Aaron Spencer (CDS), Justin Nguyen (Robinson HS IB), Stuart Robertson (Partick Thistle, Glasgow), Shane O'Connor (CDS Strength and Conditioning Coach), Matt Thomas (US Marine Corps).  Front Row - Gophers Chase Sing, Alec Karmen, Aidan Ragan, Arianna Sherman, Harte, Luke Nugent (Clearwater Chargers DA), Jack Pironti (CDS, Wesleyan University), Nicole Matuska (Women Win).

"In my opinion not only is Marauder Soccer Camp the best soccer camp out there but it is the best summer camp of any kind." - Kaiju Nekvasil - MSC parent.

What is it about MSC that has people talking and causes MSC to sell out every summer?  It's everything...our unique commitment to each individual camper, our traditions, our fun, our coaching staff.  Our core staff has been together for many years.  Almost every staff member is a former MSC camper.  Our coaches are ardent disciples of a way-of-thinking that uses soccer camp to create a memorable life experience - the MSC experience.

"If you don't come to this camp with confidence, you will definitely leave with it." - Jared Hirschfield, camper.

MSC is a unique convergence of serious soccer, quality teaching, and all-out, irreverent fun.

- Serious soccer: Technical training that leads to confidence on the ball; Tactical awareness that leads to good decision-making on the field; Challenging fitness training that will work the players and make them stronger/faster/quicker/more agile; an open-minded frame of mind that leads to self-belief.

- Quality teaching: Jim Harte has been winning teaching and coaching awards for almost 40 years.  The staff at MSC reflects teaching and coaching methods that are timeless and lead to an immersion in success.

In The Beginning

MSC was founded and existed for seven years as Tornado Soccer Camp, then High Winds Soccer Camp in St. Petersburg.  When Coach Harte took the Boy's Varsity Soccer Coaching job at Clearwater Central Catholic High School in 1987, the camp to Clearwater with him and was renamed Marauder Soccer Camp.  And now Harte has moved on to Carrollwood Day School in Tampa....and MSC has followed.

The goal of the camp has always been to make the individual camper the focus.  Our very strong camper-first philosophy forces us to always ask the question: "Is this decision in the best interests of the campers and the quality of the camp experience?"

Many of our customers remark that we have out-paced other camps because we so truly care about the experience of each individual camper.

We bring to each camper's feet a stellar combination of a disciplined environment where children know and understand what is expected of them and a knowledgeable and personable coaching staff that gives 100% every day.  All this takes place within an environment which allows each camper to realize their own potential and truly enjoy themselves.
